Portfolio

I am a budding science illustrator, with biology teaching and research background. As time passed by, I realized my skills and found my niche in depicting biology in art form. I draw sketches, do paintings and use vector art form to – display biological research experimental plans, create graphical abstracts, draw statistical / experimental result figures of journal acceptable quality, infographic posters and scientific art for science magazines.

Here below are some of my works:

A description of the project and the works presented.

In India, I found that science illustration is not a known career option. Students and researchers are often unaware about it and even the highly designated professors too. But, after researching on the internet, I found that there are few universities that offer courses related to science communication and many people across the globe are pursuing it as part-time or full time.

Some started with arts and some started with science at their grassroot education and got into this career. Though in India, there are people who have carved their own career paths in this field however, majority of students and upcoming generation still lack knowledge about this field. I strongly feel that in this digital age, one can be tech savvy, love arts and biology as well but cant take a life long commitment to carry research and wet lab experiments. There could be and are a bunch of people who think and understand the dire need to communicate science with aesthetic sense done by researchers to the common man or budding minds.

So keeping in mind this lack of information and guidance regarding science illustration, I am creating this web platform where I will share stories and will interview successful people around the globe to help myself and other upcoming sci-artists like me to find a way to establish themselves.
